Scorpion Event Solutions Marks 20th Burton Christmas Lights Switch-On

Scorpion Event Solutions is proud to announce the successful delivery of the 20th Burton Christmas Lights Switch-On, a festive tradition we have supported for over two decades. This much-loved event is a highlight of the town’s calendar, bringing thousands of people into the heart of Burton to celebrate the start of the Christmas season.

Over the past 21 years, we’ve proudly delivered every Christmas lights switch-on in Burton town centre — with the exception of 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions. This year marked our 20th time supporting the event, and we were once again pleased to work alongside local partners, artists, council representatives and the wider community to make it a night to remember.

Our involvement covered full event production, including power generation and distribution, staging, intelligent lighting, professional audio, and on-stage special effects. With thousands in attendance, our priority was to ensure a smooth, safe and enjoyable event — both technically and atmospherically.

As always, power generation and distribution played a critical role in the event setup. We deployed a reliable temporary power infrastructure to ensure all technical systems, stage elements, lighting and PA systems ran efficiently across the market square and surrounding areas. Whether powering front-of-house systems or additional attractions around the square, our solution was delivered safely and in line with all compliance requirements.

Our staging solution formed the centrepiece of the event, providing a robust, weather-resistant platform for performances, countdowns and on-stage presentations. The lighting design was created to deliver visual impact as daylight faded — with intelligent moving heads, colour washes and festive effects to bring the show to life.

Audio was managed using our powerful line array system, supported by skilled engineers to ensure even coverage and crisp sound throughout the market square. Whether for performances, announcements or the all-important countdown moment, clarity and reliability remained front and centre.

To add to the festive feel, we also included stage effects — from haze and lighting transitions to additional atmospheric elements that helped create an exciting and immersive experience for attendees.

It’s been a pleasure to support this event since its early days. The scale has grown, the technology has evolved, and the audience has expanded, but what hasn’t changed is our commitment to getting every detail right.
