Scorpion Event Services is proud to announce its involvement in one of the UK’s most iconic music festivals – Download Festival at Donington Park. As part of this year’s event, Scorpion provided and installed lighting for the VIP Camping Bar and Chill Out Area, as well as key atmospheric lighting across various high-impact locations within the site.

Renowned for its energy, scale, and production values, Download Festival draws thousands of rock and metal fans from across the country each year. With such a dynamic and well-attended event, every area – from the main arena to the VIP zones – must offer a visually memorable experience.

Creating a Visual Atmosphere for VIP Guests

For the VIP Camping Bar and Chill Out Area, Scorpion Event Services delivered a comprehensive lighting package designed to create both a relaxing ambience and a premium feel. Working closely with the festival production team, our crew installed a mixture of functional and decorative lighting, ensuring that the area remained well-lit, welcoming, and stylish long into the night.

Using a combination of festoon lighting, uplighting, and colour washes, the VIP area was transformed into a space where festivalgoers could unwind, socialise, and enjoy a drink in a sophisticated setting. Lighting was carefully positioned to highlight key features of the bar area while ensuring consistent visibility and safety for guests.

Illuminating the Iconic and the Unexpected

Beyond the VIP area, Scorpion Event Services also provided feature lighting across several standout locations around the festival grounds. Among these were the main Download entrance signage and walkway, which we illuminated to ensure high visibility and impact as guests arrived.

The lighting extended further to include the giant gnome installations and surrounding trees, adding a playful and enchanting visual element to the nighttime experience. These quirky and memorable features are key to Download’s unique personality, and our lighting ensured they remained a focal point for selfies, social media posts, and festival magic after dark.

Each installation was designed not just for visual appeal but also with audience flow, safety and experience in mind, with all equipment rigged to professional standards and tested for reliability throughout the event.
