Scorpion Production Group has once again delivered a show-stopping exhibition stand at this year’s Installer Show at the NEC Birmingham, working closely with our long-standing client to create an engaging, high-tech, and immersive presence. Built on a 12m x 9m island stand, the project required a considered 360-degree design to ensure the stand looked striking and accessible from every angle of the exhibition hall.
From structural design and AV to interactive visitor engagement and product launch support, Scorpion Production Group delivered a full-service solution, proving once again why they’re a trusted name in event and exhibition production.
The stand was constructed on a raised floor, a practical yet vital element that enabled safe, efficient routing of power, internet and video data throughout the stand. With multiple display areas and tech points requiring connectivity, this infrastructure was key to keeping the visual and interactive elements running smoothly without disrupting the clean visual aesthetic.
Throughout the space, custom-built plinths with illuminated slat-wall accents offered a versatile way that allowed for the showcasing of a wide range of products over the stand. This design kept the stand feeling open, accessible, and on-brand, while still delivering a professional showroom feel.
To tell the client’s story and clearly represent the different sectors they work in, the stand incorporated 15 strategically placed screens. These showed a mix of corporate video content and digital signage, carefully aligned with nearby product displays to offer visitors context and information at a glance.
One of the stand’s standout features was a bold and memorable zone for a new hero product, launching to the industry for the first time. This space featured a dedicated 3.5m x 2m Curved LED wall, with custom-designed video content, highlighting all the product’s features and benefits. Beneath this, a custom printed floor mirrored the company’s branding, drawing attention to the hero product, pole-mounted and illuminated and making it a true focal point.
A unique and much-loved returning feature was the inclusion of real box hedging, adding a natural touch that reinforced the company’s sustainability ethos. This greenery, combined with the contemporary build and digital elements, provided a balance between innovation and environmental awareness.
To maintain a high level of hospitality, the stand also featured a custom-built bar complete with refrigeration, integrated cupboards, and branded finishes. This allowed the team to welcome visitors warmly and provide refreshments, creating a more relaxed, engaging atmosphere. It also had raised seating alongside the bar, which allowed for a longer on stand visitor presence.
One of the most talked-about interactive features was a custom-built “Beer Pong” game, designed for fun and engagement. Visitors could take part in the game while a top-down overhead camera fed live footage to a raised truss mounted screen. Custom branded graphics and sound effects, all triggered by a single button, added theatre to the experience – giving the brand a fun, approachable edge.
Behind the scenes, Scorpion’s attention to detail continued. A custom-wrapped rear box wall served a dual purpose: offering much-needed on-stand storage while housing all the technical infrastructure that powered the stand. This included a Ubiquiti Dream Machine rack for distributing internet, video servers for the LED content and screen management, and lighting control – all neatly concealed but easily accessible to technicians.
Flying high above the stand was a huge LED header, constructed from over 165 LED panels, equating to 42 square metres of additional branded video space. This striking feature carried custom motion graphics and looping videos, making the stand visible from across the NEC exhibition hall and helping to attract attention throughout the event.
To complete the package, over 40 intelligent lighting fixtures were flown above the stand, all DMX controlled to provide dynamic light scenes across the space – from soft washes to highlight zones to crisp lighting that could be adjusted live if needed.
Edd Stanton, Director of Scorpion Production Group, commented:
“This stand was all about delivering impact from every direction. With an island layout, we had to think creatively about flow, branding and engagement – and we’re proud of the result. From the hero product launch to fun visitor experiences and professional networking spaces, we created something that worked on every level. It’s a testament to the trust this client places in us, and we’re thrilled to keep pushing the boundaries together.”
